Stardew Valley's massive 1.6 update has attracted over 146,000 concurrent players on Steam, smashing its previous record. The previous peak was around 95,000 players in January 2021 following the 1.5 update. The new player count is higher than recent numbers for the game Palworld. The update added new content like a Meadowlands farm, moving the farmhouse, new pets, and NPC dialogue. Players can now drink mayonnaise in the game. Some update features have not been revealed and can only be discovered by playing. The 1.6 update is currently available on Steam and GOG. A patch fixing bugs (1.6.1) has already been released. The developer has not announced console/mobile release dates but says the Gamepass version is coming soon. Stardew Valley is discounted to $11.99 on Steam due to the hype around the new update.
